Gaia presented a plan for the municipality's new major roads

The mayor of Gaia, Luís Filipe Menezes, presented the plan for the municipality’s new major roads, a project aimed at improving mobility in the area and responding more effectively to the challenges posed by urban growth and increasing population density in various parts of the municipality.

The planned set of projects includes the VL1, VL3, and VL10 expressways, the link road from the Jorge Sampaio Stadium to the Carvalhos Interchange, and the VL11 expressway, representing a strategic commitment to improving accessibility and preparing the municipality for current and future demands.

In the case of VL1, plans call for the construction of a new section approximately 1,500 meters long, between Rua de Bustes and the Engenheiro Edgar Cardoso Roundabout.

As for VL3—Avenida até ao Mar / Avenida do Atlântico—the project covers a 3,700-meter stretch, completing the road’s alignment.

On VL10 (Phase 2), the project comprises two distinct sections: the southern section, between Rua Mariz and Rua dos Heróis do Ultramar, spanning 1,600 meters, and the northern section, between the IC23 and Rua de Mariz, spanning 3,000 meters.

Plans also include the 2,600-meter-long connection road linking the Jorge Sampaio Stadium to the Carvalhos Interchange, as well as the completion of VL11 through four new sections, which also total 2,600 meters.

This project is part of a broader vision for mobility in the municipality and the Porto Metropolitan Area, seeking to ensure structural solutions capable of responding to the region’s development, improving traffic flow, and strengthening connections between different areas of the municipality.

With this presentation, the Municipality of Gaia reaffirms its commitment to strategic planning, the improvement of road infrastructure, and the creation of better mobility conditions, preparing the municipality for the challenges of the future.
